Create a Web Gallery (online)
Times really have changed! There is a growing trend to put photos and/or your portfolio or business on the web. This has obvious advantages: Your site is up 24/7, it's cheap, you can sell your work, it can be viewed by anyone around the world, and the potential audience is huge. Five years ago, Cliff Graves launched the Wolf Moon Journal web site, which complements the print journal of the same name. Wolf Moon Journal is an independent magazine published in Maine at www.wolfmoonpress.com. It has thousands of viewers from all around the world, which would be impossible without the web site. The journal, both online and in print, features images, essays, and poetry as well as movie, art, book and theater reviews."

Introduction Layers
One of the most powerful features of recent versions of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements is that of layers. With this feature, one can create amazing images by selecting a part of one image and using it in another image. Essentially the layers feature allows you to stack one image on top of another with various parts of a finished product residing on each layer. The advantage is that each layer can be individually edited without damaging other layers. In this presentation, we will use Photoshop Elements 5.0 to demonstrate the building of a layers image, editing individual layers, merging layers, and the addition of fill and adjustment layers. This course will assume that participants will have had some experience with Adobe Photoshop and/or Photoshop Elements.

Night Photography
Digital cameras allow for instant feedback that can serve as a guide for determining exposures, but there is more to successful night photography than just exposure. Lighting, contrast, atmosphere, equipment choices, and subject matter at night are some of the things that will be covered. We will explore the world of Night Photography from relatively short exposures by streetlight, different kinds of lights at night, to full moon exposures of an hour or more. We will explore the range of possibilities of Night Photography.

Tethered Shooting
on the Cheap
Using Windows to display your images by coupling your camera to a laptop or PC. "Low cost software to expand tethered shooting functionality"

We propose to make use of tethered shooting to demonstrate the effect or aperture on depth of field, and if I can come up with a suitable target, demonstrate the effect of mirror slap on image sharpness (what shutter speeds NOT to use if you do not have mirror lock-up on your camera).

The Art of Rear Projection

Rear screen projection is a photographic technique used to create impressionistic or surrealistic images. This technique is sometimes referred to as the “Beltrami Effect”. It got its name from a Vermont photographer by the name of Beltrami, who used the technique.
I have always had a love of impressionistic images and the use of this photographic technique has allowed me to create images that have the look and feel of impressionistic paintings. With the advent of Photoshop many photographers are now using the computer to manipulate their images to create a variety of effects. However, I find the images I create using this technique have a different feeling than images created through the use of Photoshop. This will be a hands-on work shop, so you can try the technique for yourself and see what you think. You will need to bring some of your slides or a CD with a few images (slides are preferred) with you so that your images can be projected and either a digital or film camera to record your new images.
